Another of Susan Mary Malone’s Writer Clients to Be Published in April

Dr. Annabelle R. Charbit's “A Life Lived Ridiculously” to Hit Shelves in April

DALLAS, TX: Susan Mary Malone, (http://www.maloneeditorial.com/) developmental editor for writers working to get published, announced that another of her author clients, Dr. Annabelle R. Charbit, will be debuting her novel, “A Life Lived Ridiculously,” from Firefly Publishing in April 2012.

Dr. Annabelle R. Charbit grew up in London, UK, and has been writing since 2006. This her first novel. “A Life Lived Ridiculously” is a slice-of-life story filled with troubled family relations, scheming friends, problems worse than a Greek tragedy and romance that’s doomed on arrival; all told from the viewpoint of an obsessive-compulsive heroine named Maxine.

Dr. Charbit commented on working with Malone on the editing process of the book: “Susan was an amazing editor. She appreciated the novel, and offered great advice on how to make the story more appealing. She suggested twists and turns that hadn't occurred to me, and that greatly enriched the story. Susan and I worked as a team to make ‘A Life Lived Ridiculously’ the best read possible, and I felt that Susan really cared about the book as much as I did. Susan's extensive knowledge of the industry gave me the confidence to follow all her great advice, and the story would not be the success that it is, were it not for her input.”

Susan Mary Malone stated; “I just loved working with Annabelle on the book. When I’m examining every plot twist and character build-up, I still get so wrapped up in each story that I edit. This one’s a gem--she should be really proud of it. Not the least because the book is Mainstream, which is a REALLY tough field to break into nowadays! But with a book like this one I’m not surprised. She’ll go far.”

Susan Mary Malone has worked as a freelance editor since 1993, with a BS in Political Science and minors in English and Journalism. Her client list includes NY Times Bestsellers, Essence Bestsellers and books featured in Publishers Weekly. She is also an award-winning author of fiction and non-fiction herself. She participates as a speaker in literary conferences such as the Harriett Austin Writer's Conference (at the University of Georgia), the Blue Ridge Writer's Conference, the SouthWest Writer's Conference, and the East Texas Writer’s Guild, among others. Her full biography and featured list of published authors can be viewed at http://www.maloneeditorial.com

What Big Skin Care Companies Don’t Want You to Know

Beverly Hills, CA.: April 2012 If you are one of the millions of Americans suffering from the pain of dry cracked skin, chances are you’ve searched the aisles of your local drug store for a cure only to be disappointed by product after product. And most likely you’ve invested hundreds of dollars over the years on lotions that just end up sitting on your bathroom shelves or in the trash.

You are not alone.

Wonder Ingredients that go nowhere
The skin care industry is a multi-billion dollar industry with companies racing to create the newest wonder ingredients and fight for top celebrity endorsements all designed to get you to purchase their brand. What many of these larger companies aren’t telling you is that using their lotions could be prolonging your dry skin condition.

The truth about dry, cracked skin
Dry cracked skin is a result of a damaged skin barrier that is not functioning properly. Normal, healthy skin has an intact skin barrier that protects the thin layer of natural lipids and keeps in moisture. Once the skin barrier becomes damaged the skin begins to lose it’s own natural moisture leading to dry skin or skin irritation. Conventional lotions aren’t designed to restore the skins barrier which is why many of them do not actually cure dry skin. Many conventional lotions use chemical ingredients that add an artificial layer of moisture to skin which just leaves skin feeling greasy instead of really handling your dry skin problem.

Dr. Lisa Benest, a board certified dermatologist, further explains why conventional lotions don’t really work, “Regular moisturizers are designed to add moisture onto the skin. However it does nothing to repair the barrier so it’s an endless cycle of constant moisture application onto the skin without healing and curing the dry skin. Many traditional moisturizers restore the moisture to the skin on a temporary basis, but after continued use actually send a message back to the skin saying it doesn’t need any further moisture to be produced by the skin, and so we can end up with the opposite condition where the skin is less hydrated than prior to using the moisturizers.”

A new discovery that shields your skin
That is why the researchers at 21st Century Formulations, a small US based skin care company, took years to develop and release its Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion. Shielding lotion is a new category of lotion designed to restore and strengthen the skins own natural barrier. By strengthening the skin's natural barrier Skin MD Natural allows your skin to heal itself, getting rid of dry skin for good. Skin MD Natural also has the added benefits of being free from gluten, fragrances, parabens, dyes, and other harsh ingredients that can damage your skin.

Construction Company Compares “Replacement” With “Repair”

Company Issues Public Information To Clarify Difference In Foundation Safety Issues

LOS ANGELES, CA: Julian Construction Inc., (http://www.julianconstruction.com/), a foundation construction and foundation repair company located in Southern California, has issued a public statement to clarify any possible confusion or uncertainty on the subject of foundation repair vs. foundation replacement, and when each is needed. The company also stressed the importance of routine foundation inspection to ensure home safety.

The founder of the company, Julian De La Torre, stated “There are many good reasons for foundation replacement. Some homes were built without a concrete and steel foundation, while others were made of un-reinforced masonry, that of brick or stone. In some cases, the original concrete was made of poor quality materials or has been badly deteriorated over the years.”

“Sometimes you do not need a new foundation, but you have breaks in your foundation due to prior earth movement, age or even poor drainage. Left unchecked and uncorrected, these breaks in the foundation and stem wall can lead to additional cost and, in many cases, pose a risk to your structure.”

“A foundation repair expert can conduct an in-depth inspection of your property to make sure there are no existing situations that need addressing. Someone that is skilled in fixing foundations will be able to analyze the location, size and pattern of wall cracks to determine if there are any underlying problems, and look for other indicators of foundation damage. Staying alert to potential foundation issues can be vital, and help prevent future structural trouble,” concluded Julian.

Gardening Tips That Protect the Health of Your Skin

Beverly Hills, CA.: May 2012 With spring in bloom many gardeners are on the hunt for gardening tips and tricks. Many of these gardening tips focus on the plants, how to nurture them, protect them, and keep them healthy and looking beautiful - but what about you the gardener? Where are the gardening tips focused on you, on how to keep your skin protected, healthy, and looking beautiful?

Many of us are unaware of the damaging toll gardening can take on our skin. How the exposure to chemicals in pesticides and fertilizers cause dry cracked skin, or how certain plants can cause irritation and allergic rashes. There is also the fact that long days spent in your garden can cause sun damage and premature aging.

While gardening, your skin can come into contact with harsh pesticides, fertilizers, and other chemical compounds. These things damage your skin's natural barrier, breaking it down and preventing it from doing it’s job, keeping the "good stuff in" and the bad stuff out. The "good stuff" is your skin's natural oils which helps keep your skin supple and smooth. The bad stuff is toxins and irritants that can damage your skin, causing dry skin and even skin allergies. What dermatologists recommend is some kind of shielding lotion that prevents the bad stuff - toxins and irritants - from getting into your skin and causing unnecessary skin damage.

Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion is a new type of shielding lotion that should be on every gardeners shopping list. Skin MD Natural works as an invisible shield of protection against skin damaging irritants by strengthen the skin's barrier. Skin MD Natural is also available with the added benefit of sunscreen to protect against sun damage that can lead to premature aging and skin cancer.

Rebecca is a stay at home wife. She explains why she uses Skin MD Natural: “Working in the garden can really wreak havoc my skin. Cleaning chemicals, dirt, fertilizers, dusting; all these things can really dry out your skin. Skin MD Natural works to shield your skin from harmful everyday conditions while helping your body restore it’s natural moisture from underneath. ”

Another major skin concern that gardeners face is skin irritation from exposure to certain plants such as poison oak or poison ivy. The oils from these plants cause an allergic reaction resulting in an uncomfortable itchy rash. There are a wealth of gardening tips out there about how to protect against exposure to these plants but none of them are as simple and affective as applying Skin MD Natural before gardening.

Neil Renton, a Health Safety and Environmental Assistant, explains why he has his workers use shielding lotion to protect their skin: “In north Texas, our guys work in brush and vegetation. We were taking the guys in to the doc frequently for rashes and skin problems that turned out to be poison ivy and oak. Then we learned about shielding lotions, so I ordered a case and started handing it out to the guys in the field. So far this year, we’ve not had any cases of poison ivy or oak, and shielding lotions have really helped reduce our medical expenses and doctor visits.”

Besides using Skin MD Natural as a part of your daily gardening regimen, you should follow these additional gardening tips to further protect the health of your skin:

1. Always apply a sunscreen even on overcast days.

2. Wear a large brimmed hat.

3. Use natural organic fertilizers.

4. Avoid chemical based pesticides.

Aero & Marine Tax Professionals Helps Real Estate Company Get Tax Exemption

Real Estate Company Obtains Sales Tax Exemption on Purchase of New Cessna C206 Aircraft

SACRAMENTO, CA: Aero & Marine Tax Professionals (http://www.aeromarinetaxpros.com/), a firm in northern California specializing in helping people avoid sales tax on the purchase of aircraft, has assisted a real estate company in southern California to legally support a claim for a tax exemption on the purchase of a Cessna C206 aircraft.

An executive from the company stated “I was exploring different real estate options. There are no commercial flights into the areas I was looking into. For instance, Minden, Nevada and one in Louisiana has no scheduled flights. I thought the folks at Aero & Marine Tax Professionals did a very professional job and made it easy for me. I am the kind of guy that tries to do things myself before I go to someone else, and I don't recommend that people do that in this case. If you had one little hiccup it would be a mess. Aero & Marine Tax Professionals saved me forty grand, and forty grand is forty grand. I have already recommended them to a friend of mine that is a commercial pilot.”

Tom Alston, founder of Aero & Marine Tax Professionals stated “The California Board of Equalization is being much more aggressive these days in terms of assessing tax. I have seen far too many instances, where we were not involved, where the whole case was lost on the minutest of details. But when you know all of the details of the process and keep updated on every change, you can have a record like ours. We’ve never lost a case.”

Aero & Marine Tax Professionals shows purchasers how to avoid sales tax, specifically how to avoid aircraft tax and vessel tax in California and to make certain the full value of their next aircraft, vehicle or vessel goes into their pocket--not the government's. They have successfully filed hundreds of tax returns with the California State Board of Equalization. Mr. Alston has also published many articles on sales and use tax. Insurance Company Gets Tax Exemption on Plane Purchase

Aero & Marine Tax Professionals Assists California Insurance Company in Obtaining Sales Tax Exemption on Plane

SACRAMENTO, CA: Aero & Marine Tax Professionals, (http://www.aeromarinetaxpros.com/) a firm in Northern California specializing in helping people avoid sales tax on the purchase of aircraft, has assisted an insurance company in California to legally support a claim for a tax exemption on the purchase of a Beechcraft A36TC aircraft.

An executive from the company, Rick Martin, stated “I'd wanted to use a plane like this to get in closer contact with clients that are further away, rather than by phone. This way I can see them in person, often.

I'm a pilot, and I think there are significant financial advantages to flying yourself over commercial. The time savings is very substantial. It's convenient, I can fly direct to the airport that's nearest the client, rather than having to go to a hub and connect. The clients are scattered around, they aren't always near an international airport. This makes it possible to get right there, and back quickly.

“Aero & Marine Tax Professionals clarified the process for me in simple terms. They told me exactly what was necessary, and what I would be required to do. They promised to guide me through the process, which they did, every step of the way. It was easy to deliver the information requested. Price-wise it was very fair. I couldn't ask for any better. I would absolutely recommend Aero & Marine Tax Professionals to others. They are the hero of the day,” concluded Martin.

Tom Alston, founder of Aero & Marine Tax Professionals, stated “With testimonies like this I don’t think I need to say any more. This is what our company does, and we have a 100% success rate with clients who apply what we say to do.”

Electric Company Receives Sales Tax Exemption on Purchase of Plane

Aero & Marine Tax Professionals Helps Secure Another Tax Exemption On The Purchase Of A Plane

SACRAMENTO, CA: Aero & Marine Tax Professionals (http://www.aeromarinetaxpros.com), a tax consulting firm in Northern California, have assisted an electronics company from northern California in securing a sales tax exemption on their purchase of a Beechcraft King Air for use in their business.

An executive from the company stated “The plane enables us to have a more efficient use of our time than with commercial airfare. We would have needed to tailor our business meetings around the airline schedules, and would not be able to use the transportation time as part of our meeting. We sometimes transport our clients as well as our staff aboard the aircraft.”

“The process that Aero & Marine Tax Professionals used was quite simple to follow, as we already keep quite meticulous records. So once we had a framework established for the data that we needed, it was not difficult to accumulate that data. I think what really came through later was that when we had issues in interpretation from the Board of Equalization that we were able to easily identify the data needed. I would recommend Aero & Marine Tax Professionals to others!”

Tom Alston, founder of Aero & Marine Tax Professionals, stated “There are a lot of reasons a company might need to purchase an airplane, to make their business process more efficient. Some of our clients have gone on to purchase a second or third aircraft as their business ventures have expanded. For new people, I let them know that they can purchase an aircraft and legally avoid paying sales tax. But it is vital to bring in our firm at the beginning of the process. And our customers who have bought a second or third plane? They came to see us again, because we’ve never lost a case.”

Aero & Marine Tax Professionals shows purchasers how to avoid sales tax, specifically how to avoid aircraft tax and vessel tax in California and to make certain the full value of their next aircraft, vehicle or vessel goes into their pocket--not the government's. Medical Company Obtains Sales Tax Exemption On New Plane

Aero & Marine Tax Professionals Wins Yet Another Case For Sales Tax Exemption

SACRAMENTO, CA: Aero & Marine Tax Professionals (http://www.aeromarinetaxpros.com), a tax consulting firm in Northern California, recently assisted a southern California medical specialty company acquire a sales tax exemption from the California Board of Equalization on their recent purchase of a Cessna Conquest 441 airplane.

An executive from the company stated: “The new plane was something we needed for intermediate range trips. We have the Cirrus and the jet. The jet would be too expensive for medium range trips, we only use that for east coast trips. The small plane would not be able to make the mid-range trips. With the nature of our business and what we ship, commercial flights are just not conducive to the transport of medical devices directly to the hospitals and surgeons that need them. We will sometimes do trips to meet with hospitals and doctors, but we will many times take actual products needed for surgeries.”

“Aero & Marine Tax Professionals communicated what was needed, and everything went exactly the way they said it would occur. That particular aircraft had had a wheels-up landing and was in the shop for nearly a year. That made getting the additional information requested more challenging. I would definitely recommend Aero & Marine Tax Professionals to others!,” concluded the executive.

Aero & Marine Tax Professionals founder Tom Alston stated “Despite the economy, many companies today find that owning an airplane is more efficient than flying on commercial airlines. And many do not realize that there are totally legal ways to avoid paying sales tax on that airplane. But you have to work with an expert, because the laws and regulations in this field have changed over the years. This is what we do, so we focus our efforts on ensuring that a company can purchase an aircraft and legally avoid sales tax.”

Julian Construction Gives Basics On Finding A Contractor For Home

Company Details Basics Of Hiring Process For Homeowners Seeking Home Improvement

LOS ANGELES, CA: Julian Construction, Inc. (http://www.julianconstruction.com/) a foundation construction and foundation repair company based in southern California has published a list of guidelines on the subject of searching for and working with a professional contractor for homeowners seeking home improvement or repair. It was written by an industry professional, Shawn Kyles, who has inspected over 15,000 structures during his career.

He first stresses the importance of locating a contractor: “While some homeowners prefer to do the work themselves, many construction and remodeling jobs will require hiring either a general building contractor or specialized contractor. A contractor manages the entire project from start to finish, including architectural planning, securing any required building permits, as well as providing all of the materials, equipment and labor that will be needed. “

He then detailed a number of the liabilities and important points to check for in hiring a contractor, as well as the general hiring process. He concluded: “Depending on the type and extent of your construction project or home remodel, hiring a contractor to perform the work can save you time and money. A general building contractor will know who to hire when the project involves specialized skills, such as plumbing, electrical, foundation repair, or masonry, and will manage all aspects of the job. Both general and specialized contractors will also know the building codes that need to be followed, and what permits to pull. If you are uncertain about the type of work that may be needed, such as the best way to repair a foundation, professional help can be critical and will ensure the job is done properly.”

Julian Construction Informs Public Of Different Foundation Types

Effort To Increase Awareness Of Potential Foundation Problems In Homes
LOS ANGELES, CA: Julian Construction (http://www.julianconstruction.com), a foundation construction and repair company in southern California, has issued a public statement detailing the differences between the three most common foundations, as well as some of the possible issues that arise in older homes requiring foundation repair. The statement was written by Shawn Kyles, a construction specialist who has inspected over 15,000 structures in his career, and is a senior partner of the foundation contractor company.
Mr. Kyles explains “The three most common types of foundations that are used today include: Crawl space, Basement, and Slab. Crawl space foundations, also called a raised foundation, are more common in the central parts of the country. It is a foundation that is built above the ground with approximately two feet of space for a person to crawl underneath. This allows room for someone to crawl under the foundation to install mechanical equipment such as electrical wiring and air-conditioning ducts, and give easy access to the equipment for repairs. A pile foundation uses concrete or wood piles to support a home and is similar to a crawl foundation.”
“When a foundation isn’t built properly or the soil that the foundation is constructed on expands and contracts, it can cause damage such as slopping floors, bowed walls, windows and doors that don’t open or close properly, cracks and other problems that can weaken the structure of your home.”
He further stated: “Inspections should be conducted on a regular basis by a home foundation specialist to determine if there are any issues that need resolving. Some degree of foundation settlement will occur even under ideal weather and property conditions, especially if it is an older home. Detecting and repairing even minor cracks and damage from foundation settlement is extremely important, and can prevent more serious problems that will require extensive and costly repairs.”

Big Trees Inc. Helps University In Field Remodeling Project

University Village Shopping District To Maintain Magnolia Grandiflora Tree in Center

flowering magnolia grandifloraSEATTLE, WA: Big Trees Inc. (http://bigtreesupply.com/), tree transplanting company and tree nursery servicing the Seattle area has helped a downtown Seattle high-end shopping district, University Village, maintain a large Magnolia Grandiflora slated for leveling.

The shopping district, in undergoing construction in some areas, would have been forced to level the tree. However, with the help of Big Trees Inc., they were able instead to find a new home for the massive 20 foot tall Magnolia (weighing in at 8,000 lb) tree in the shopping district, now situated in the west side entrance of the center. In addition, Big Trees Inc. also relocated numerous small, 6 inch, 25-30 year old Japanese Maples in the center, moving them to the center’s northeast entrance.

Ross Latham, owner and founder of Big Trees Inc., stated: “Unfortunately it is all too common that a remodeling project threatens the life of the local tree in a public or private landscape. We’d rather see a tree find a new home if we can help it. And we can. This particular project turned out very well for all involved, and the visitors of the shopping district can be happy their familiar landmark isn’t going anywhere.”

Ross Latham is the owner of Big Trees Inc. (http://www.bigtreesupply.com), located in Snohomish, WA, in the Seattle area. The company is one of the largest tree nurseries in the Seattle area with over 120,000 trees available in over 300 varieties. Seattle University Relocates Trees From Logan Field With Big Trees Inc. Assistance

SEATTLE, WA: Big Trees Inc., (http://bigtreesupply.com/) a Seattle tree supplier, nursery and tree transplant specialist, has recently undertaken assisting Seattle University in relocating trees which would have otherwise been leveled from Logan Field to other locations on the campus.

The remodeling project begun at Logan Field, the school sports facility, would have otherwise needed to cut down the trees and lose their scenic beauty from the campus. Big Trees carefully prepared the trees, then transplanted them in new planting sites throughout the campus.

The company founder, Ross Latham, stated “It’s really rewarding to see these trees find a new home. The University should be very pleased at being able to complete its remodeling and still keep these great pillars of nature for generations of students to come. All in all it went very well. All of us here at Big Trees Inc. look forward to working with Seattle University in the future.”

Developmental Editor Advises on Finding Right Publishing House

Susan Mary Malone Weighs Big Versus Small Publishing Houses for New Authors

books and more booksDALLAS, TX: Susan Mary Malone, (http://www.maloneeditorial.com/) a developmental editor for writers looking to get published, has released a report on the best approach for new authors seeking a publishing house. Malone has 15 years in the editing business as a developmental novel editor, and has helped over 40 of her writer clients get published with traditional publishing houses.

Malone begins her report with a simple question to authors: “Should you go with a small press or a big publishing house?”

“A deceiving question, on the outside. Writers have dreams of being published by Random House, or Simon & Schuster, or any of the big conglomerates in NY, under whose umbrella myriad imprints abound. But going with a smaller house has many perks, and can often - even for seasoned authors - be a better way to go.”

She muses on the biggest change that has affected writers. “With the death of the mid-list author came the reality that everyone else is pretty much left to promote his book himself. Advertising dollars go to that list of well knowns. So either way you’re left to do the promotion.”

She proceeds with much detail on the pros and cons, weighing the merits of both. In her closing statement, she stresses the following: “The point is to find your audience, and often that isn’t in the mega-sea!”
