Mold Damage Still A Risk Leading To Lawsuits: Building Cleaning Services Advises On Quick Remedying

LOS ANGELES, CA: Building Cleaning Services (BCS) (http://buildingcleaningservices.net), a mold removal company based in Los Angeles, concurs with environmental law experts that “Mold contamination has become an increasing problem in homes, offices, and other indoor places across the United States.” BCS advises employers and landlords to be alert to mold in office buildings and dwellings and to address it quickly to avoid potential litigation.

On March 11, 2013, a San Diego Superior Court Judge John Meyer approved a settlement of $575,000 in a mold exposure lawsuit brought by a family of 4, including 3 young girls who were exposed to mold, water damage, dust mites and moldy smells in their former rented apartment.

“Mold can cause a lot of health problems to people” and because of this, “many different laws have been passed, which protect the rights of people in case of mold contamination,” according to one law firm.

The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) reports that at least seven states have enacted mold legislation, including California. At one point, Law journal articles estimated there were about 10,000 mold cases nationwide.

BCS is renowned for taking the worry out of mold concerns and comes highly recommended (yelp link). It says a quick resolution to mold could prevent litigation from mold leading to health risks.
The California Toxic Mold Protection Act of 2001 was enacted to address increasing concerns regarding health effects from exposure to indoor molds.

RAIN, WATER DAMAGE AND MOLD: BUILDING CLEANING SERVICES SAYS TO BE ALERT TO POTENTIAL RISKS

LOS ANGELES, CA: Building Cleaning Service (BCS) (http://buildingcleaningservices.net), a highly respected and recommended mold removal service based in Los Angeles said that recent rains have made buildings susceptible to water damage and mold. The company reminds Californians that the California Toxic Mold Protection Act of 2001 recognizes that health effects from mold exposure occur through allergic reactions, infection, irritation of mucous membranes, or toxicity.

While people need to be alert to mold contamination, BCS said expeditious and expert remediation (removal) of the problem can help prevent health problems that can ensue from mold. BCS takes the worry out of the mold removal process with clients’ questions fully answered and assistance going above the norm.

A Toxic Mold Protection Act reports the following:
  • “Nonallergic persons exposed to extensive mold growth may experience eye, nose, or throat irritation leading to symptoms similar to ‘hay fever,’ that is, reddened or itchy eyes, runny nose, nasal congestion, cough, or sore throat.”
  • “Currently there is insufficient scientific information to determine if inhalation of fungal particles may also cause systemic toxic effects in humans. Inhabitants of damp or moldy buildings have reported nonspecific symptoms, such as fatigue, headache, memory problems, nosebleed, body aches, and fevers.”
  • “Despite our incomplete understanding of how health problems develop in damp or moldy buildings, there is sufficient scientific evidence linking mold exposure with the adverse effects described above to recommend that people not live or work in buildings with visible mold growth or persistent moldy odor.”

New Home Deep-Clean Helps Start New Memories

Los Angeles BCS company offers Non-Toxic Cleaning Products

LOS ANGELES, CA: Building Cleaning Services (BCS) (http://buildingcleaningservices.net), a Los Angeles based mold removal and post-construction cleaning company, has launched a new deep-cleaning service for new home owners, preparing them for starting their new life and memories in a clean space. Because of its years of providing toxic mold removal services, BCS knows the value of having a fresh and environmentally-friendly home or to move into.
BCS’s deep cleaning is a precise cleaning method that does not use perfumed or chemical products and uses Hepa filter vacuums. Specialized carpet and window cleaning is also recommended.

BCS provides a deep clean of home and business properties, is expert at post construction cleaning, and offers a cleaning service for houses in foreclosure.

One BCS client stated: “We hired BCS to deliver air scrubbers and to clean following an extremely dusty floor replacement project. Our business runs on a tight schedule and had to be up and running the very next day. BCS had two crews arrive at 6am just as scheduled - one to do the ‘high’ areas, and another to do the areas below 8'. We have several areas with exposed ceiling with lots of pipes and ductwork and cabinetry and the high crew did a superb job cleaning all these hard to reach areas. It is now probably cleaner than when we moved in! The low crew did a great job as well. They cleaned areas that I wouldn't have even thought to clean.”

“Whether the property is cleaned after purchase or for purchasing, a ‘spring clean’ helps ‘renew’ the space ready to make it your own,” BCS manager, Kathy Liverance said.

BCS assists sellers and new home owners because as a professional mold removal company, it recognizes the importance of a safe and healthy environment. Its knowledge, experience and recorded client satisfaction is a boon for those moving to a new home.

American Dental Excellence Offers Sleep Apnea Solutions

WESTMINSTER, CO: Dr. Kenneth Polke, founder of American Dental Excellence (http://americandentalexcellence.com) in Westminster, CO, in the Denver area, offers custom-fit oral appliances that help treat sleep apnea and handle snoring problems.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), is a sleep-related breathing disorder that is characterized by a decrease or complete halt in the airflow. It occurs when the muscles in the throat and mouth go slack during sleep, allowing the tongue to fall back and push against the soft palate in the back of the throat and obstruct the airway. This can happen many times in a single night and can result in exhaustion during the day, high blood pressure, snoring, as well as increased risk for diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, headaches, and depression.

The two most common treatment methods are continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines, and for mild to moderate sleep apnea - an oral appliance.

Oral appliances are convenient, comfortable, and usually more portable than other methods of treatment. Older appliance styles forced the jaw forward slightly to lower the tongue and open the airway. This can cause permanent bite changes, muscle change, and permanent joint changes. Newer, more improved designs gently hold the teeth apart and hold down the tongue to keep it from falling back and blocking the airway.

Dr. Polke says “Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is potentially life threatening and often goes undiagnosed. Its many side effects can be lessened or reversed with simple and effective treatment options. If you’re diagnosed with OSA, consult with your dentist to help you decide if an oral appliance is ideal for you, and work with your dentist to choose an appliance that works for your specific needs.”

How Gum Disease Can Cause Heart Attacks

By Dr. Kenneth J. Polke

Gum disease is one of the most common types of oral health issues. Left untreated, it can lead to tooth loss and other dental problems.

What you may not know is that gum disease has been linked to many serious health conditions, including heart disease.

One study found that if you have moderate or advanced gum disease, you are more likely to have heart issues than people with healthy gums. According to some experts, chronic gum disease can also increase your chances of a heart attack.

Heart attacks are caused by blood clots that block blood flow to the heart. Blood clots form inside the body following a series of chemical interactions. Researchers believe that that some of the bacteria that causes gum disease can trigger the formation of these clots.

Your mouth contains large amounts of different types of bacteria. When the bacteria combines with other particles in your mouth, it creates a sticky substance on your teeth (above and below the gum line) called plaque. Hardened plaque is called tartar.

When plaque and tartar remain on your teeth for long periods of time, it causes gingivitis, a type of gum infection, and the first stage of periodontitis (gum disease).

Periodontitis literally means “inflammation around the tooth”. The inflammation (redness and swelling) is the body’s response to the bacterial infection. Eventually, your gums will also start to bleed.

When any part of your body bleeds, the blood is leaking through an opening in a blood vessel. When the bleeding occurs in your mouth, bacteria can pass through this opening and enter the bloodstream, where it can start forming clots.

Regular brushing, flossing and dental cleanings can keep plaque from hardening on your teeth, and help you avoid gum disease. It can also keep your heart healthy.
