Brite Smiles Patient Eats Corn on the Cobb with Dental Implants

APPLE VALLEY, MN - A patient at Brite Smiles Dental Care (http://www.britesmilesdentalcare.com), located in Apple Valley, MN, put his new dental implants to the ultimate test by eating corn on the cob at a family get-together.

“I looked at the corn-on-the-cob and said to myself, ‘Do I dare?’ and then decided there was only one way to find out,” said the patient. “Pretty soon the corn was off the cob - and I got a standing ovation.”

A dental implant is an artificial tooth that replaces a missing or extracted tooth. The tooth is secured to the jaw bone with a small titanium post. The implant is permanent and matches the surrounding teeth. There is very little discomfort during the procedure, and the recovery period is relatively short. Once the healing period is over, you can eat all of the foods you enjoy - including corn on the cob, with confidence.

“Implants are an alternative to bridges and dentures,” says Dr. Dennis Simmons, founder of Brite Smiles Dental Care. “They look, feel and function the same way as regular teeth.”

Dr. Dennis Simmons graduated from the University Of Minnesota School Of Dentistry in 1976, receiving the Class Honor in prosthetics – dentures partial and full. Since then he has participated in over 3000 hours of continuing education courses, focusing primarily on cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry, dental implants and implant-supported restorations, orthodontics, extractions, crown/bridge, root canals, bite and TMJ disorders, and sleep apnea. For his studies, he has been honored with the status of “Diplomate” from the International Congress of Oral Implantology and the International Osseous (bone) Integration Society.
