The Lakers will start the 2010-11 NBA season on October 26^th at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. The Lakers play in the Pacific Division of the National Basketball Association. Last year, they captured their 16^th NBA championship title after defeating the Boston Celtics in the finals.

The San Francisco Giants have won more games than any other team in baseball. The franchise was founded in New York, where the team won five World Series championships and seventeen pennants. They have not won a World Series championship since 1954.

The National League won the All-Star game in July, and will have home field advantage for the 2010 World Series.

Julian points to a study released in September by geologists at the University of California Irvine and Arizona State University, in which scientists concluded that large quakes strike the San Andreas fault every 45 to 144 years.
