Tickets on Sale from Al Brooks Tickets

The Lakers will start the 2010-11 NBA season on October 26th at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. The two-time defending champions will play against the Houston Rockets beginning at 7:30 p.m. Seats for the opening game, and NBA tickets throughout the season, can be purchased from Al Brooks Tickets (www.albrooks.com).

The Lakers play in the Pacific Division of the National Basketball Association. Last year, they captured their 16th NBA championship title after defeating the Boston Celtics in the finals.

The team, ranked as the leading NBA franchise, currently holds records for having the most wins, the highest winning percentage, the most NBA Finals appearances and the longest winning streak in US professional sports.

The franchise was founded in Detroit, Illinois in 1946. A year later, the team joined the National Basketball league and moved to Minnesota. The Lakers franchise arrived in Los Angeles, their current home, during the 1960-61 season.

The team played their first 7 years in Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, followed by 31 years at The Forum in Inglewood. The Lakers have been playing at the Staples Center since it opened in 1999.

Sixteen members of the NBA Hall of Fame have played for the Lakers. Four team members (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant) have been NBA MVP award recipients.

The Lakers fan base is known for the many celebrities that regularly attend games, including Jack Nicholson, Dyan Cannon, Flea and Anthony Kiedis (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Ice Cube, Andy Garcia, Denzel Washington, Penny Marshall, Leonardo DiCaprio and Arsenio Hall.
