Editor Susan Mary Malone Sees Another Client Author Published

Developmental Editor Helps Author To Successful Publication In Romantic Suspense Genre

DALLAS, TX: Professional editor Susan Mary Malone (http://www.maloneeditorial.com/) recently saw the publication of another novel where she assisted in the book editing process. The author, Rory Church, wrote the novel, “Home by Christmas,” in the Romantic Suspense genre. Susan Mary Malone assisted the author in the capacity of developmental editor in the process of preparing the manuscript. The book was published to traditional book markets as well as made available to the online market this November.

The story centers on Special Forces agent Morgan Raush and her Russian counterpart, who are forced to work together to survive the harsh winter and enemy fire in the rugged mountains of Uzbekistan. The book enjoyed positive reception upon opening. The book can be found on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Home-Christmas-Rory-Church/dp/193491259X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386599024&sr=8-1&keywords=Home+by+Christmas+by+Rory+Church

The author, Rory Church, states the following on working with Susan Mary Malone: “I was able to take my writing to a higher level with the valuable help of Susan Malone. As I am a Romantic Suspense writer, Susan had to perform double duty - editing as well as advising from the female perspective. Certainly I owe a lot to my wife in that regard but I have to admit, once my wife reads Susan's review and says, ‘See… I told you so.’ Well, that pretty much seals the deal. My first book “Home by Christmas,” a holiday novella, was released by Black Lyon Publishing in early November. The advice I received from Susan regarding dialogue and pacing in the midst of conflict along with her hammering on active tense made for a much improved story. I have received great reviews and hope to collaborate with Susan again in the near future.”

Susan Mary Malone stated: “It was a pleasure to work with Rory as the developmental editor on the book. The book is a thrilling and entertaining one, an excellent work of fiction. It’s always so exciting to see an author make it on the first one, officially entering the ranks of published authors! I know we can expect more great things to follow from this one!”

Susan Mary Malone has worked as a freelance editor since 1993, with a BS in Political Science and minors in English and Journalism. Her client list includes NY Times Bestsellers, Essence Bestsellers and books featured in Publishers Weekly. She is also an award-winning author of fiction and non-fiction herself. She participates as a speaker in literary conferences such as the Harriett Austin Writer's Conference (at the University of Georgia), the Blue Ridge Writer's Conference, the SouthWest Writer's Conference, and the East Texas Writer’s Guild, among others. New Year Foundation Checklist

By Shawn Kyles

With January just around the corner, now is a good time to start thinking about your foundation maintenance program for the coming year. Regular inspections of your home, landscape, roof and basement are extremely important. They can help you avoid serious foundation issues and the need for major reconstruction.

Here is a checklist you can use to spot situations that are an indicator of foundation damage as well as problems that can lead to foundation trouble.

1. Inspect your roof for leaks. Clear out any debris in the gutters. Clogged gutters can cause puddles to form on the roof and water to seep into your home. Dripping water can damage your ceiling, walls, insulation and electrical wiring.

2. If you have sprinklers, make sure the water is not draining into your home or basement. The soil around your home may need grading to ensure proper water drainage.

3. Keep the moisture in the soil consistent. Soil that expands and contracts under the house can cause foundation problems.

4. Check the plumbing for leaks and loose fitting pipes.

5. If you have a slab foundation, look for warm spots or moisture on the slab. There may be a pipe leak under the slab.

6. Do you have a fireplace? Look for cracks in the brick that may have resulted from settlement.

7. Check for exterior brick wall cracking as well. Moisture that enters through these cracks can cause wall and insulation damage.

8. Inspect your doors and windows. If your windows and door frames have started to pull away from the wall, or they don’t open and close properly, it could be an indicator of foundation settlement.

9. Looks for interior wall and ceiling cracks, which are also signs of foundation problems.

10. Inspect your floors for any type of damage, including loose tiles. Are your floors starting to slope? Many times sloping floors are caused by foundation settlement. All homes settle over time. Too much settlement however, causes foundation damage.

11. Check your foundation for cracks, holes and other types of damage. Make sure your foundation walls are centered on footings. Does it look like your foundation has shifted? This could be the result of too much foundation settlement as well.

Approximately 1 in 5 homeowners put off making repairs. Remember that waiting to fix problems often results in more significant damage and escalated costs.

The safety of your family is also at stake. When foundation problems are ignored, the building’s structural integrity becomes increasingly compromised. During an earthquake, there is a greater chance of the home shifting off of its foundation. Even minor seismic activity could lead to a wall or roof collapse depending on the severity of the foundation problem.

If you want a thorough and detailed inspection of your home and property, contact a foundation repair company with extensive experience. A company that has inspected thousands of homes and businesses will know exactly what to look for when checking out your house. They can also give you knowledgeable advice on any repairs that may be needed.

Julian Construction Urges Homeowners to follow HUD Guidelines

US Department Of Housing And Urban Development Set Guidelines When Getting An Inspection

LOS ANGELES, CA: Julian Construction Inc. (http://julianconstruction.com/) a foundation construction and foundation repair company in Southern California, urges homeowners to be careful when arranging a home inspection, in order to always find a fully qualified inspector. The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has a large amount of information available on the subject, and has published a series of guidelines on the subject that they recommend homeowners to follow before and during the inspection process for any home repair or home foundation repair.

Julian Construction has found it common that homeowners get an inspection during the buying and selling process, as well as when determining if the house or house foundation needs repairs. Whenever a home inspection is called for, Julian Construction recommends the homeowner follow the guidelines laid out by the HUD to find a qualified inspector. A few of the points covered were:

• How long have you been practicing in the home inspection profession and how many inspections have you completed?

• Are you specifically experienced in residential inspection?

• Do you offer to do repairs or improvements based on the inspection?

• How long will the inspection take?

The complete list can be found online: http://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/HUD?src=/program_offices/housing/sfh/insp/inspfaq

In the matter of experience, Julian Construction has over 10 years experience in the field of home and foundation inspection, and their team is headed by professional safety inspector Shawn Kyles who has inspected over 16,500 structures in his career. This has included many inspections of residential homes, and with enough experience in foundation inspection and foundation repair to ensure that nothing is missed during the inspection of a home’s foundation.

Julian De La Torre, founder of Julian Construction, stated: “We take care during the inspection process, because this is the step where if something is overlooked then it can cause problems down the road. Foundation problems are particularly important to handle in Southern California, where earthquakes are frequent. So it is vital for a home to receive regular inspections and have a well maintained foundation.”

Julian Construction owns its own company and is built on a “no middlemen” model – no salesmen, no subcontractors. When you work with Julian Construction you get the principals of the company and workers of Julian Construction under your home. The result is the highest quality work at affordable prices. They can be contacted by phone at 323 733-3377, by fax at 323 733-4477 or via their website, www.julianconstruction.com. Foundation Repair Company Discusses Value Of Foundation Repair

Foundation Repairs Can Have Significant Impact On Resale Value Of A Home

LOS ANGELES, CA: Julian Construction, Inc. (http://julianconstruction.com/) a home foundation repair and general contractor company in LA, is warning homeowners that failure to act on foundation problems can decrease the value of a home. Julian Construction has worked with many homeowners to increase the value of a home by getting a foundation inspection and quickly addressing the foundation problems that came up.

Unhandled foundation problems make the buying/selling process more difficult. According to one Realtor in California, in response to a question from a homeowner selling a home in need of foundation repair:

“This is an important issue to discuss with your Realtor. You might be able to recover the cost by having the work done ahead of time and obtain better offers by doing the repairs. Foundation and roof costs are a couple of issues that really scare buyers.”

Julian Construction maintains the policy of doing a thorough inspection, which is based on the years of experience they have in the field. Their team is then able to do any repair work if it is needed, with a realistic estimate of what it will take to get the job done. The end result can be a home which maintains its resale value and is resultantly easier to sell on the market.

Julian De La Torre, founder of Julian Construction Inc., stated “A common time when we see someone needing a foundation inspection for their home is when they are looking to sell it. They wisely want these issues handled before they sell. This is the smartest approach. It can save more and give a larger return on investment if the repairs are done before the sale.”

Julian Construction owns its own company and is built on a “no middlemen” model – no salesmen, no subcontractors. When you work with Julian Construction you get the principals of the company and workers of Julian Construction under your home. The result is the highest quality work at affordable prices. They can be contacted by phone at 323 733-3377, by fax at 323 733-4477 or via their website, http://www.julianconstruction.com. The Craft Of Writing

By Susan Mary Malone
I’m not a big proponent of books on writing. I know, I know, lots of folks swear by them. From the old Strunk & White to Julie Cameron’s inspirational works and everything in between, writers plow through countless tomes to help them pen that next bestseller. And I’m not saying some study therein isn’t helpful. It surely can be, and there are a couple I recommend, but only in very specific instances. More to the point, however, is that you can’t learn to write well just by studying the process. Writing is a doing endeavor.

Countless writers query book development editors, to employ their services, who haven’t written much. Perhaps a few chapters, with an idea of where the rest of the book is going. Perhaps even a first draft. Often this is their initial stab at fiction, and before they’ve even contacted one, they have already signed with an Indy house, have the cover and pub date. Possibly even a publicist. Oy!

That somewhat boggles my mind. In fact, novel editors won’t work with the latter at all. Serious writers are those willing to put in the blood, sweat, and tears to learn this very exacting craft. And that doesn’t mean publishing a first effort in its infancy. In the days of yore, those initial efforts routinely ended up in a drawer somewhere, and almost always deservedly so. I’m always fond of quoting the Hemingway story where he lost his first three manuscripts, leaving them on a train. Devastating at the time, but later he said that was the best thing that ever happened to his craft.

As a developmental editor, I can and do work with writers at very early stages, but not often. I counsel them to do their own legwork first, and that means, as the mantra goes, to write and write and write some more. Then, study others’ works, which means, of course, read and read and read some more. Of times, new writers do read, although only in the genre they’re pursuing. But the point is to read widely, including the classics, both pre-twentieth century and the more modern ones. I do laugh at how often my writers tell me later that I’ve ruined reading for them, as they’re constantly picking through substantive mistakes in others’ work. But I assure them that’s temporary—that while they’ll always find ways to make books better, they’ll eventually truly and so-gratefully appreciate great works. And they do.

When a writer has done the above, working with a gifted book editor proves so much more effective. That sounds quite obvious, but the reason has more to do with just skill level. The writer himself is then in a place much more conducive to learning, with a broader foundation upon which to build his craft and his book.

Getting there just takes time and effort. It takes rolling up your sleeves, doing the hard work, mastering some patience, and also allowing your skin to thicken a bit in order to absorb criticism and learn from it rather than bristling and blaming the messenger.

And it speaks to something deeper and more numinous as well. For it’s those who stick it out through all of the above who indeed, have a wondrous love of this craft we call writing. And it’s from those book authors that brilliance comes, and we all remember why we do this in the first place, which in the end is the love of the word and the reverence for great writing. The ability to take the reader’s breath away in a few lines, and leave her longing for more.

Which is, of course, not a taught thing in the end. Yep, the pieces can be learned in many ways, but the putting together of magic emerges from that quiet, well-lighted room . . .

Building Cleaning Services Provides Common Indications of Mold

Environmental Friendly Cleaning Company Warns Public to Be Watchful for Early Signs of Mold

LOS ANGELES, CA: Building Cleaning Services, (http://buildingcleaningservices.net/), a Los Angeles mold remediation company, has issued a series of indicators of mold infestation in a building. The company urges people to take immediate action if any indications of mold are present.

The company recommends that a visual inspection of the building is done and the following questions are asked:

* Are building materials or furnishings visibly moisture damaged?
* Have building materials been wet for more than 48 hours?
* Are there existing moisture problems in the building?
* Are building occupants reporting musty or moldy odors?
* Are building occupants reporting health problems that they think are related to mold in the indoor environment?
* Has the building been recently remodeled or has the building use changed?
* Has routine maintenance been delayed or the maintenance plan been altered?

If any of the above has occurred or is present, the company urges that a professional inspection be conducted at once. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “The common health concerns from molds include hay fever-like allergic symptoms. Certain individuals with chronic respiratory disease (chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, asthma) may experience difficulty breathing. Individuals with immune suppression may be at increased risk for infection from molds. If you or your family members have these conditions, a qualified medical clinician should be consulted for diagnosis and treatment.”

Building Cleaning Services has an excellent record of success in remedying Los Angeles mold infestations when they occur. One of their clients in Santa Monica stated: “I work for Sotheby's International Realty and chose BCS for a buyer of mine when we found mold in three places in a foreclosure property they were purchasing. The company gave me a free quote and its crew really came through for us. We needed immediate scheduling, constant communication and lots of little details needed to be attended to since we were dealing with a bank. They came through on every level, not to mention the work was excellent, completed on time, and we got a clean clearance. I would recommend them highly to anyone and will use them again in the future.”

More reviews of the company’s work can be found on Yelp:http://www.yelp.com/biz/building-cleaning-services-glendale?nb=1

BCS has been helping business owners, construction companies, real estate agents and homeowners for over 10 years with uniform success, such as this man from Pasadena, CA: “The entire crew from Building Cleaning Services was professional and highly skilled. We were in a very tough situation with the black water intrusion and mold situation in our house, but helped to get our home back to normal. I can sleep better at night knowing that a good job was done in our home. I would highly recommend these folks to anyone. We received several quotes and some were lower than BCS, but no other company demonstrated the same depth of knowledge and that gave us confidence that they knew what they were doing.”

Landscaping with Deciduous Trees

By Nancy Penrose

Deciduous trees are trees that lose their leaves (as well as flowers and fruit) once a year. The shedding usually occurs in the fall, and is followed by a dormant period when the tree is considered inactive. Even though the tree is “sleeping,” it continues to develop new roots and engage in other metabolic processes.

The word “deciduous” comes Latin decidere, which means “to fall off.” The opposite of a deciduous tree is an evergreen tree.

Decidious trees have many different shapes and sizes, although most tend to be large trees. The majority of trees that have wide leaves, also called broad-leaf trees, are deciduous, such as the birch, maple, oak and elm. The canopies of deciduous trees range from dense to light foliage.

Deciduous trees that are native to the Pacific Northwest include the bigleaf maple, vine maple, amur maple, red alder, black cottonwood and Pacific dogwood.

The bigleaf maple can be found throughout the region, particularly along the banks of streams.

Vine maples are considered an excellent landscape tree due to their hardiness, the color of its bark and the beautiful color of its leaves during the fall.

The amur maple, which can be planted in small lots, has beautiful foliage color during the fall.

The red alder is the area’s most common hardwood tree. It has a light ray bark that turns white as it gets older. Red alders can grow up to 60’ in height.

The black cottonwood is the largest of all the poplars, growing up to 150’ in height. Black cottonwoods can thrive in different type of soils. The tree starts flowering in its 10th year.

Pacific dogwoods are considered showy trees, with pretty white flowers that appear in the spring. They grow up to 50 feet tall.

One of the best times for pruning a tree is during the dormant season, when it is easier to see the tree’s structure and determine which branches need to be removed. Other reasons to prune trees when they are dormant have to do with the tree’s physiology. Because the tree has lost its leaves, it is no longer producing the food that it usually lives on. As a result, getting rid of weak, broken and dead branches during dormancy will have less of an impact on the tree’s vitality. Not only will the tree have more energy to close off any open wounds, the likelihood of wound infection from insects and fungus decreases during the winter.

Some dormant trees need to be protected during the winter to keep them healthy. Mulching is often necessary for younger trees to minimize the impact of changing weather conditions. There are also dormant sprays that can help control pests.

If you are considering purchasing a deciduous tree for your landscape, contact a big trees specialist. A big trees expert will know what types of deciduous trees are best for your property and soil conditions. You can also get any questions about dormancy answered by a professional with years of experience and knowledge.

Treacherous Mountain Tree Transplantation a Total Success

Big Trees Inc. Beats Snow and Difficult Mountain Pass In Tree Transplantation

SEATTLE, WA: Big Trees Inc., (http://bigtreesupply.com/), a tree transplantation and tree nursery company in the Seattle area, recently engaged in a project transplanting trees up a mountain pass to plant them near a newly developed neighborhood near a ski resort. The company’s team was successful in the tree installation despite many obstacles.

The company was contacted by a resident near a ski resort who wanted a more natural landscape in an area affected by some neighborhood development. The company selected 3 large Douglas Fir trees for the project. The trees were approximately 16’-18’ tall, and weighed around 1000 pounds each.

The tree moving project was on a tight deadline, needing to be completed before winter season and the first snow. The access was difficult, and each tree was planted carefully into the transplant area. The trees were successfully planted on time, and the company was happy to report the trees were doing very well in their new environment and the homeowner was thrilled with the outcome.

Nancy Penrose, owner of Big Trees Inc., stated: “We’re very pleased with the outcome of this one, particularly since the transplant was into the high country this late time of year. We don’t get many projects where we have to head up into the mountains. Our project manager did an excellent job and no harm came to any of the trees throughout the process.”

Nancy Penrose is the owner of Big Trees Inc. (http://www.bigtreesupply.com), located in Snohomish, WA, in the Seattle area. The company is one of the largest tree nurseries in the Seattle area with over 120,000 trees available in over 300 varieties. They not only can deliver young trees but also mature trees in a wide range of sizes. Some types of trees available include spring flowering, deciduous, evergreen, and privacy trees. The company also does tree transplanting including large trees. Their blog can be seen at http://www.bigtreesupply.com/blog/

“I Just Came Here to Dance” Garners Universal Public Acclaim

New Novel by Susan Mary Malone Rising in Popularity in Traditional and Online Market

DALLAS, TX: Susan Mary Malone (http://www.maloneeditorial.com/), developmental editor and award-winning book author, continues to receive praise and growing public acclaim for her recent work, “I Just Came Here to Dance.” The novel, published earlier this year, is already gaining recognition on both traditional (paperback and hardcover) and online publication.

The story centers on Paula Anne Fairbanks, and follows her through a summer spent running from reality, from disaster to strange tales told around Diana Maclean’s (known as the White Witch of Sociable, Texas) porch. The story is a modern allegory, dealing in the creative and the crazy, the mythical and the material, fairy tales and fateful endings.

The book has received increasing attention and sales in both the traditional and online markets. 5 star reviews continue to come in from readers praising the work. The novel (already said) is available in many bookstores as well as several online sources. The book can be seen on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/I-Just-Came-Here-Dance/dp/1928704522/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1384967689&sr=8-1

Susan Mary Malone stated: “I’m really delighted by the reception the book is getting! It’s only been 3 months since it was published, and it looks like the trend is going to continue! When writing or editing a book, the most exciting part is where one shares it with the reader, and in doing so the reader is able to envision all of the twists and turns of the thoughts you put to pages. Look forward to seeing where else the book goes!”

Successful Stem Cell Therapy Without the Moral Dilemma

Adult Cell Therapy Successes Often Eclipsed by Embryonic Stem Cell Controversy, Says Heartcell.org

Los Angeles – HeartCell (http://www.heartcell.org), a free informational resource guide for cardiac cell therapy, has shed a ray of light onto stem cells controversy for the average layman by launching a webpage clarifying the different types of stem cells in simple terms.

The webpage (http://www.heartcell.org/what-is-a-stem-cell/stem-cell-terms/) starts out with the simpler definitions, and then goes on to answers questions such as, “Where are stem cells found?”, “What are adult stem cells?” and “What are embryonic stem cells?”

“What we have found is that while many people have heard of stem cells, they have mostly heard about the embryonic stem cells debate,” says the founder of HeartCell.org. “They often have no clear understanding of the difference between embryonic and adult stem cells—a difference which is fundamental to understanding the progress in this subject. Our stem cell glossary is intended to help clear this up and give more attention to the adult stem cells, which is where all the success in the stem cell field has been. Also, adult stem cells are very much not controversial and their use does not involve harming embryos in any way.”

As is described on HeartCell.org, adult stem cell treatments have been practiced successfully since the 1950s, when bone marrow transplants were first conducted to assist in treating leukemia and similar illnesses. By contrast, embryonic cell research has produced much hype but few reports of clinical successes, and are controversial due to the inevitable destruction of the embryos from which the stem cells are harvested.

To read more about this distinction and the progress being made in developing the benefits of stem cells, visit http://www.heartcell.org/what-is-a-stem-cell/embryonic-vs-adult-stem-cells-the-controversy/ To read the glossary of terms, visit http://www.heartcell.org/what-is-a-stem-cell/stem-cell-terms/ To contact HeartCell.org for recommendations of clinics or for suggestions for your further research, email info@heartcell.org.

HeartCell.org does not give out medical advice and none of the information contained in it should be construed to be such. HeartCell.org makes no claims that stem cell treatment, nor any medical treatment, is a cure for any illness, disease or malady. HeartCell.org is strictly informational in nature and exists to help others research and better understand the possible benefits that can be derived from the safe, proper and effective use of stem cells.

Hope for Stem Cell Cures Without the Moral Issues

HopeCell.org Encourages Patients to Look Into Adult Cell Therapy, Despite Embryonic Stem Cells Controversy

Los Angeles – HopeCell (www.hopecell.org), a free informational guide on stem cell therapy, is helping patients to make sense of stem cell controversy and potentials by launching a webpage clarifying the different types of stem cells in simple terms.

The webpage (http://www.hopecell.org/what-stem-cell/stem-cell-glossary/) starts out with the simpler definitions, and then goes on to explain such things as, “Where are stem cells found?”, “What are adult stem cells?” and “What are embryonic stem cells?”

“There are a lot of patients out there who could potentially benefit from the treatments available using autologous stem cells, meaning those which are taken from the patient's own body,” says Cass, a stem cell patient success and co-founder of HopeCell.org. “Sometimes they are told, as I was, that the recommended treatment is an organ transplant. It's sad that they may be discouraged from considering potentially life-saving treatments by hearing talk of 'moral problems and controversy’ that stem cells have generated. All this controversy centers on the harvesting of embryonic stem cells. Adult stem cell treatment, such as what I received, is where most major successes have been made.”

In an effort to dispel this confusion, the stem cell glossary on HopeCell.org was created, making the technical terms on this subject both easy to read about and clearly distinguished one from another. Patients will learn about the controversial harvesting of embryonic stem cells, and about the treatments currently practiced using adult stem cells, which don't involve embryos in any way.

“I will never tell you a stem cell treatment will cure you, but I think it’s important to know there are new, safe choices out there that may assist in your well-being,” says Cass. “For me, when I was on dialysis, I needed hope. That is what my stem cell research did for me—it gave me hope that I might find a way to improve my health. Understanding stem cells potential and what they are being used for will help others find that same hope, too.”

To read more about the distinction between embryonic and adult stem cells, visit http://www.hopecell.org/what-stem-cell/embryonic-vs-adult-stem-cells/ To view the stem cell glossary of terms, visit http://www.hopecell.org/what-stem-cell/stem-cell-glossary/ To contact Cass at HopeCell with any questions or to get suggestions for your further research, visit http://www.hopecell.org/contact-me/

Asset Management Company Gets Tax Exemption on Airplane

Aero & Marine Tax Professionals Assists Asset Management Company on Tax Exemption on Airplane Purchase

SACRAMENTO, CA: Aero & Marine Tax Professionals, (http://aeromarinetaxpros.com/), a California aircraft tax specialist company in the Sacramento area, recently assisted an asset management company to obtain sales tax exemption on the purchase of a company plane. The sales tax exemption was granted on the 2007 Columbia LC41 by the California Board of Equalization (BOE).

An executive from the company stated: “We manage retirement assets for retirees. We have a lot of Chevron retirees. We have to make face-to-face contact with clients, and as they move out of the state, we need to remain in contact with them. It's always best to have face-to-face conversations with them. Commercial wouldn’t work because in getting access to commercial airlines I have to go to Oakland. It's 2 hours to Oakland for me and then it would burn a whole day for one client. I can go cover many more clients really easily with the airplane. I can cover clients in different areas. For example, Nevada, or down in southern California, or up in Oregon. But I can cover more ground and not suck up a whole week, basically. We found Aero & Marine Tax Professionals from their advertisements. I had been following them for quite some time. I've always been on their email list and I don't remember where else I saw it. I saw it on some site and started following it. They were very good, and they responded very quickly. They told me how to work it, how to get the correct documentation together and how to work my worksheets. I submitted stuff to them, they submitted stuff back, and we worked it out. I have already recommended them to others.”
Tom Alston, founder and owner of Aero & Marine Tax Professionals, stated: “It went very well, the whole process had no glitches in it. The client was very pleased with the results. We’d be happy to work with them again if they should have the need.”

Aero & Marine Tax Professionals shows purchasers how to specifically avoid aircraft tax and vessel sales/use tax in California and to make certain the full value of their next aircraft, vehicle or vessel goes into their pocket--not the government's. They have successfully filed hundreds of tax returns with the California State Board of Equalization. Mr. Alston has also published many articles on sales and use tax. Their blog can be seen at http://aeromarinetaxpros.typepad.com.

Aero & Marine Tax Professionals Assist CPA with Client

Tax Professionals Help CPA’s Client Obtain Sales Tax Exemption on Plane Purchase

SACRAMENTO, CA: Aero & Marine Tax Professionals (http://aeromarinetaxpros.com/), an aircraft tax specialist firm in Northern California, was recently contacted by a CPA for assistance with a client’s case. The client had an aircraft that had undergone an ownership transfer, and Aero & Marine Tax Professionals were consulted on the matter of avoiding sales tax on the transfer. The firm was able to assist the CPA’s client with obtaining a sales tax exemption from the California Board of Equalization (BOE).

The CPA on the case stated: “I'm a CPA in the central valley that works with a number of agricultural clients. We had a client with an aircraft that had an ownership transfer, and that ownership transfer was going to trigger a very large California sales tax. I contacted Aero & Marine Tax Professionals through a referral from another CPA who had used their service and was exceedingly happy with the service and results obtained. We were looking for Aero & Marine to help us out with getting the exemption in order to exempt the transaction from California tax. From the initial call, I was able to speak with Tom Alston, the owner, immediately. They indicated that the transaction was eligible for the exemption. From that point, the owner and other associates at Aero & Marine walked us through the entire process and essentially ensured that we were always providing the correct documentation at the appropriate times. Essentially, the transaction was handled 100% by Aero & Marine and we were able to obtain that exemption with very little time expended on my side. From my perspective, it made me look good since the transaction went as planned. The client was exceedingly happy with the services that were provided. I would most certainly recommend them to others."

Tom Alston, founder and owner of Aero & Marine Tax Professionals, stated: “This is not an uncommon occurrence for a CPA to turn to us for assistance on an aircraft or vessel tax case. Our familiarity and expertise on these cases is just on another level. We keep ourselves completely up-to-date on every aspect of these cases.”

Improper Drainage Systems Can Lead To Foundation Problems At Home

Company Performs Drainage System Installations to Prevent Drainage Problems

LOS ANGELES, CA: Julian Construction, Inc., (http://julianconstruction.com/) a foundation construction and foundation repair company in Southern California, is urging homeowners with any indications of drainage difficulties to get a proper inspection done to locate the problem. Drainage problems are often linked to foundation repair issues. The company is able to perform drainage system installations to remedy a faulty system,

According to the company’s experience, proper drainage systems provide a safeguard against the build-up of water and flooding during rainy seasons. Water accumulation around a building can cause soil erosion and shifting, which very often leads to foundation problems for the structure. There are several indications of drainage problems, such as water pooling in a yard, rain water accumulating on a rooftop, moisture seeping into a house, or if foundation cracks are already present in a structure, In any of these situations, drainage problems are a likely cause.

In any event of indication of drainage problems, the company urges an inspection of the structure to determine the nature of the problem. An inspection can be scheduled on the company’s website: http://julianconstruction.com/contact/schedule-an-inspection/

Julian De La Torre stated: “We run into drainage problems regularly. We find that a lot of homes have a drainage system that is ineffective or that it has been worn down by weather or other factors. We always look into the possibility of a poor drainage system and work to help the homeowner with any drainage problems we find. We find it to be a frequent cause of foundation problems.”

Julian Construction Stresses Earthquake Readiness for Homeowners

Construction Company Urges Homeowners to Take Steps Needed To Safeguard A Home

LOS ANGELES, CA: Julian Construction, Inc., (http://julianconstruction.com/), a home foundation repair company in Southern California, recently issued a public statement to homeowners on being prepared for the effects of earthquakes on a home. In addition to the dangers during a quake, earthquakes can cause structural damage to the foundation of homes. The company urged homeowners to take steps to keep their homes safe and increase earthquake preparedness.

Professional safety inspector, Shawn Kyles, stated: “An earthquake can cause serious damage to a home, especially if the building has not been retrofitted. Retrofitting is the modification of a structure by adding new components to make the building stronger. Following the 1994 Northridge earthquake, the severity of structural issues in residential neighborhoods varied considerably from house to house depending on the steps each homeowner had taken to fortify their home.”

The full text of the company’s public message can be seen on the company’s website: http://julianconstruction.typepad.com/julian-construction-blog/2012/04/retrofitting-a-home-for-earthquakes-1.html

Julian De La Torre, founder and owner of Julian Construction, stated: “At Julian Construction we’ve seen a lot of damage to foundations in the aftermath of earthquakes. It has to be watched for particularly if the home is in an area where earthquakes are common, such as in greater Los Angeles. There are tools like earthquake retrofitting that can help protect a building from the devastating effects of these quakes. If a home is safeguarded by first inspection, and then taking the proper action, then you can have greater peace of mind about the safety of the structure you live in.”

Julian Construction owns its own company and is built on a “no middlemen” model – no salesmen, no subcontractors. When you work with Julian Construction you get the principals of the company and workers of Julian Construction under your home. The result is the highest quality work at affordable prices. They can be contacted by phone at 323 733-3377, by fax at 323 733-4477 or via their website, http://www.julianconstruction.com, You can see tips and advice about home foundations on their blog, at http://julianconstruction.com/blog/.

Why Experience Matters

By Shawn Kyles

Home inspections are common during the buying or selling process. Look on the Internet and you’ll find tips and advice on how to hire the best home inspector possible for your property. One point everyone agrees on is that when it comes to inspecting a home, experience is extremely important.

Even The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recommends homeowners find out how long the company has been practicing in the home inspection profession and how many inspections they have completed.

HUD also says to ask the company if they are specifically experienced in residential inspections. According to HUD, “there is no substitute for training and experience in the unique discipline of home inspection.”

If you are looking for a foundation repair expert, the same qualifications apply. Foundation repair is a specialized field of work. There are plenty of materials that can be read on the subject, but there is no substitute for the knowledge gained from spending decades on the job.

The first step in the foundation repair process is an inspection. The more foundations your repair expert has seen and worked on, the more thorough the inspection will be. Keep in mind that anything that is missed during a foundation inspection can lead to costly repairs down the line. Californians in particular need to make sure that their foundation is regularly inspected by a qualified foundation company and kept in good shape in order to prevent building damage during earthquakes.

What questions should you ask before hiring a foundation expert? What you are looking for is a company with a strong track-record of foundation inspection experience. Find out how many years the company has been inspecting and repairing foundations (not just how many years they have been in business). Ask them what licenses and training they have. Get referrals. Call and talk to their customers about the quality of the work that was performed. Collect up enough information about each company so that you can make the best and most informed decision possible.

Consider this. For many people, their home is the single, most important financial investment they will ever make. Hiring a qualified foundation repair company is essential if you want to maintain the value of your home. It will also help you avoid more serious (and expensive) foundation issues that could lead to major reconstruction.

A foundation repair company with decades of experience can be trusted to conduct a proper and thorough inspection. This includes not only identifying the problem, but finding its cause. If any repair work is needed, a knowledgeable company will be able to explain all of your options in detail and answer any questions you have about the work. They will also give you a realistic estimate of what it will take to get the job done.

Most importantly, when you hire a company that has not only been in business a long time, but also inspected and repaired thousands of foundations, you will have more confidence about the work that is being performed and greater peace of mind regarding your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety.

5 Tips To Avoid Crossing Writing-Genres

By Susan Mary Malone

Traditional publishing is rigidly structured. No news flash there! But the stratification and specs of categories often bumfuzzle writers. And since I’ve just had this come up several times in the last week, thought we’d talk about it here.

So often writers want to include everybody in their audience. Seems to make sense, no? The more people you can appeal to, the bigger the audience, the more books you’ll sell. Right?

Not really. The reason publishers’ imprints are so strict is that they’ve honed in on the audience for different genres and sub-genres. And they have long-established distribution chains to reach those book buyers. I.e., they know who’s going to buy a Paranormal Romance, vs. readers of Romantic Suspense. They target Science Fiction to those who read it, vs. ones who lap up Fantasy (and those genres couldn’t be more different). Mysteries, Suspense, and Thrillers are quite different in scope and specs as well, and never the twain shall meet. As unfair as it may on first blush seem, it’s the way books are sold. And trying to re-invent this wheel will bring you only frustration.

So, how do you focus your lens so sharply that you catch that agent’s eye? A few tips will help clear up the pages.

1. First off, what do you like to read? What is it that catches your eye? Nine times out of ten, that’s what you’ll be writing as well. Of course writers branch off and out, but first works especially will fall into the categories you like to read.

2. Identify that genre, category, sub-category. So you love to read Romance. A good start. But what sub-category of Romance, exactly? Go to the major Romance imprint sites, and study the differences in the books. You’ll find where the ones you like to read fit, and there’s the genre that most appeals to you.

3. Now, study those specs. You’ll find word count (all of which are very strict), content, basic formula for success. Can your main character curse? Not if it’s Inspirational Romance. Can there be “other-worldly” or paranormal or fantasy aspects? Not if it’s Historical Romance. The thing is, you’ll be able to find all of that under the different imprint submission guidelines. This is very important to follow in your book writing.

4. If you’ve already written your manuscript and have slipped across genre lines, you can always go back and fix the transgressions. Sometimes this takes a total rewrite; sometimes just a change of this or that, a going in a different direction from mid-way. If you’re in the process of writing the tome, all the better—you can stick to the guidelines before having to make whole-scale revisions. Pay close attention to your novel development. Sometimes it takes a novel editor to help you make the necessary changes to a story so near and dear to your heart.

5. Finally, stay in your genre with subsequent books. The whole point of book selling is to build an audience, beginning with the first one and continuing on with the second, third, and forever. I’ve often had writers complain, when after selling one book they’ve subsequently brought an entirely different genre to the agent, only to have the agent reject it. Why? Because the audience the writer has built resides in his first genre-community. And trying to sell something different a.) won’t appeal to that community, and b.) won’t be known in another. Can you write something entirely different? Of course. Just know you’re starting back over at jump as far as publishing’s concerned.

That publishing runs along very strict imprint-specs bears repeating. Good book authors and book editors know these cold. But you can master that, and get one step closer to that brass ring!

How do you identify your genre?

Malone offered advice on how to overcome this common barrier.
“As professionals, we all know this is when the perspiration part comes in. We know all too well that while amateurs rely on inspiration, professionals know that fortitude and courage must now take over. If a deadline exists, well, we whip ourselves in the rump and spur that pony on. The feed bill has to be paid! And I actually think this is the best-case scenario—you have no choice but to press on. Because it’s oh-so easy to stop and bemoan the lack of inspiration to write. But that is only a trick of the mind.”
She went on to describe the 3 main methods she has seen work over the years to assist in getting over the difficulty and going again on the book writing process.

RJ's Fuzzies Sheepskin Gifts Perfect for the Holidays

Established Company Offers High Quality Sheepskin Footwear

New Castle, Delaware – RJ's Fuzzies Sheepskin (www.sheepskingifts.com), a long-time provider of high quality sheepskin products, has expanded into dozens of malls across the country with kiosks for the holiday season. This holiday season program helps customers to conveniently pick up their sheepskin gifts while doing their other shopping, and also allows them to choose their favorite sheepskin footwear easily by seeing and touching the products before purchasing.

“One important factor in the quality of our sheepskin slippers is that we don't just sew wool to a mesh,” says Joe Francis, president of RJ's Fuzzies Sheepskin. “Some companies do that, and while it still looks attractive, it is not a natural bond and therefore can have a much shorter lifespan. We use all natural sheepskin lining, so our products still give you all the natural comfort and maintain all the benefits of genuine sheepskin.”

The RJ's Fuzzies Sheepskin holiday season program has been expanding for the last six years, and due to the quality of the products, customers routinely request and even demand the return of RJ's Fuzzies Sheepskin kiosks in their local malls each winter. In addition to sheepskin footwear to stave off winter's chills, there are a variety of accessories available, such as hats, gloves, steering wheel covers and more.

HeartCell.org Advises Patients to Fully Understand Options Before Treatment

Communication is an Essential Ingredient in Responsible Health Decisions, Say Stem Cell Info Website Founders

Los Angeles – HeartCell (http://www.heartcell.org), a free informational resource guide for cardiac cell therapy, was established to help patients understand the benefits of stem cells and to assist patients to find the right clinic for cardiac stem cells treatment when needed.

HeartCell.org has pages of facts on stem cells research and therapy, including a full glossary of technical words explained in layman's terms, and a brief history of stem cells. By learning the terminology and asking any questions through the contact page, patients are able to attain a good understanding of the treatment they are interested in and are then referred to a suitable and trusted clinic that can deliver the procedure they need.

One of the co-founders of HeartCell.org is a stem cell treatment success herself. Her kidneys failed unexpectedly in 2009, and after receiving kidney dialysis three times a week for months and hearing doctors' recommendations for steroids or a kidney transplant, she began to look for alternative solutions. Hearing about stem cell therapy spurred her personal research and inquiries on the subject, which ultimately culminated in her visit to a stem cell clinic and the restored functioning of her kidneys.

It is from this story that the founders of HeartCell.org came to produce this complimentary stem cell referral service. In the founders' words, “Our purpose is to help others that are searching for a well-respected, professional and legitimate stem cell organization that they can connect with in the hopes of improving their own quality of life. Hope lives!”

To contact HeartCell.org for recommendations of clinics or for suggestions for your further research, email info@heartcell.org. To read more about cardiac cell therapy, visit http://www.heartcell.org/stem-cell-heart-treatment/ To see the glossary of terms (stem cell definition and related words), visit http://www.heartcell.org/what-is-a-stem-cell/stem-cell-terms/

Communication Plays a Vital Role in Patient Recovery, Says HopeCell.org

Website Founder Stresses the Need for Patients to Communicate in Order to Recover

Los Angeles – HopeCell (http://www.hopecell.org), a free informational guide on stem cell therapy, was established as a connecting point for stem cell patients to increase that vital human factor in patient recovery: communication. Through HopeCell.org, stem cell patients and prospects can connect up with each other and share their experiences, encouragement and hope.

Cass, co-founder of HopeCell.org and a kidney stem cell treatment success herself, says that for her, when she was on kidney dialysis, what she needed was hope. That hope was provided when a friend shared her own experience with stem cell therapy and the results she had gotten. This spurred Cass's personal research and inquiries on the subject, ultimately culminating in her visit to a stem cell clinic and the restored functioning of her kidneys.

“The key was communication—if that friend hadn't shared her story, I might never have heard of the potentials of this treatment and would have had few choices besides ongoing dialysis or a kidney transplant,” Cass explains. “That's how I want to help other patients, and that's why I co-founded HopeCell.org. There is enormous potential in stem cell research and I want that to be communicated.”

In alignment with that, HopeCell.org has pages of facts on stem cells research and therapy, including a full glossary of technical words explained in layman's terms, and a brief history of stem cells. Besides learning and getting in touch, potential stem cell patients can also be assisted to find suitable clinics for the treatments they need and want.

“I’m not a doctor, I can’t give you medical advice, but I’m happy to suggest ways to do your own research,” says Cass. “Above all, I’m happy to listen, answer your questions, share the details of my story and encourage you to find out for yourself what might be best for you. I wish you well on your journey to discovering better health!”

Understanding the Biological Classification of Plants

By Nancy Penrose

The first classification of living things was developed by Artistotle over 2,300 years ago. In his classification there were only two groups, animals and plants. He divided the animals into three subgroups, those that could fly, walk and swim.

During the 1700s, Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus developed a method of naming organisms. Linnaeus is often called the father of taxonomy, the modern scientific system for describing and grouping taxa (organisms).

Today’s biological classification of living things includes five kingdoms: Protista - single-celled organisms that have a nucleus, Monera - single-celled organisms that don’t have a nucleus, Fungi - motionless organisms that absorb nutrients for survival, Plantae –plants that contain chlorophyll, a green pigment necessary for photosynthesis and Animalia - multi-celled organisms that have nervous systems.

Many biologists now divide Monera into two separate kingdoms, Eubacteria and Archeobacteria.

A kingdom is the highest level of classification and the largest group. The Plantae (plant) kingdom include conifers, flowering plants or flowering trees, ferns, mosses, clubmosses, hornworts and liverworts.

Sometimes green algae is included in this group, but not seaweeds or kelp. There are currently over 300,000 members of the Kingdom Plantae.

Green plants get their energy from the sun through a process called photosynthesis.

The lowest level of biological classification is “variety.” In between are groups such as subkingdoms, superdivisions, divisions, classes, subclasses, orders, families, genus and species.

There are two “classes” of plants, the Dicots and Monocots. The Dicots are plants with two seed leaves.

The leaves have a center vein and veins that branch out from the center. The majority of flowering plants are in this group. Monocots have one seed leaf. This class includes grasses and simple plants.

The biological classification of “orders” refers to plants that have names that end in “ales.” “Families” of plants have names that end in aceae. Members of a family have characteristics that are different than other families. In a subfamily, the plants are again grouped based on traits that distinguish them from other family members.

Between a subfamily and genus are tribes and subtribes.

“Genus” is one of the more commonly known plant classifications. The plants in a genus can be easily identified as part of the same group. When writing the biological classification of a plant, the genus name is always capitalized, either italicized or underlined.

“Species” is the classification that defines the specific characteristics of a plant, such as its color, the shape of its leaf, where the plant was found and who discovered it.

When someone talks about “variety” in regards to plants, they are referring to slight differences between various members of a species.

Here is an example of the biological classification of the Satomi dogwood, a pink flowering tree, deciduous plant: kingdom – plantae; order – cornales; family - cornaceae; genus – Cornus; subgenus – Benthamidia; species – C. Kousa.

If you want to buy trees or other plants for your landscape, speak with a tree nursery specialist or tree arborist in your area who is familiar with the biological classification of plants. Someone who understands the similarities and differences between the various plant groups will know what types of greenery or big trees are best for your planting environment.

4,000 Pound Douglas Firs Planted Successfully In Landscape Project

Big Trees Inc. Helps Local Elderly Couple In Privacy Screening Project

SEATTLE, WA: Big Trees Inc., (http://bigtreesupply.com/), a tree transplanting and tree nursery company in the Seattle area, recently completed a large-scale privacy screening project for a local elderly couple. The project involved large 4,000 pound Grand Fir and Douglas Fir trees, and the company is pleased to report that all trees were transplanted successfully. The trees were transplanted from the company’s nursery located in Snohomish County.

The project involved six Grand Firs and Douglas Firs, reaching 25 feet tall and weighing an average of 4,000 pounds each. Despite the large trees and relatively small landscape site providing limited space to work in, the company was able to use specially designed equipment to bring the trees on-site and reported little to no effect on the existing landscape and lawn. The trees helped to create a privacy screen for the elderly couple, which they desired due to a new house being constructed within eight feet of the property line, and not wanting to wait for trees to grow. The residents are very pleased with the instant privacy screen, and the company reported the trees have made the move successfully and are growing well in their new landscape.

Nancy Penrose, owner of Big Trees Inc., stated: “It was a wonderful project. The circumstances we were working with were a little tricky, due to the limited space, and desire to start with larger trees. But it was nothing our project manager couldn’t handle. It was all completed on time and in budget, everything on the project worked out perfectly!”

NorthbrookCourtDental.com: Dental Implants – Treatment For Tooth Loss

By Michael Vold, DDS

The loss of a tooth can have a dramatically negative impact on your appearance. Tooth loss can also cause you to have speech and chewing problems, as well as cause the weakening and movement of other teeth. A missing tooth can also result in bite problems and jawbone erosion.

There are many reasons for suffering a tooth loss, including poor oral hygiene and gum disease, inadequate nutrition, and accidents. Approximately 69% of adults ages 35 to 44 have lost at least one permanent tooth.

One of the primary reasons for tooth loss is tooth decay. Plaque builds up in the mouth when teeth aren’t brushed and flossed regularly or properly. The plaque contains sugars and acids that eat through tooth enamel, resulting in cavities. If the deterioration isn’t stopped, the damage can lead to the loss of teeth.

Accidents involving major impacts, such as falls, sporting injuries and auto accidents, can cause tooth loss as well. According to recent studies, most Americans will have lost an average of 12 teeth by age 50, and one out of every four people will have lost all of their teeth by the time they reach 60 years of age.

Dental implants are one of the most popular treatments for replacing missing teeth. The implants are made of titanium, a metal known for its strength and resistance to corrosion. They look just like a tooth’s normal root. Designed to fuse with bone, they provide the foundation for replacement teeth, including crowns, bridges and dentures

During the second stage of the procedure, a small amount of gum is removed to expose the top of the implant. An abutment (connecting element) is attached to the part of the implant that appears above the gum line. After the abutment has healed, it is fitted with a crown. The process of fusing the implant to the jawbone provides increased strength and stability for the new tooth. It also helps ensure the tooth looks natural.

Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth or several missing teeth. Unlike removable dentures, they do not rest on your gums, nor do they slip or click. They are not anchored to adjacent teeth like bridges, nor do they require any teeth in the mouth to be reduced in size.

The benefits of dental implants include a more attractive appearance, increased comfort and improved speech. Implants will also make it easier to eat and chew food because they function exactly like your own regular teeth.

Except for young children, anyone with missing teeth is a good candidate for dental implants. Dental implants can also replace existing bridges or dentures.

The success rate for dental implants is extremely high. However, they do need to be taken care of just like natural teeth, including regular brushing and flossing. Properly maintained, dental implants will last for many years.

If you have missing teeth, consult a dental oral surgeon who knows how to implant teeth. During your initial consultation, you can find out more about the procedure, about the results you can expect, and the cost dental implants typically amount to in your area.

Northbrook Court Dental Offers Dental Implants

Northbrook, Illinois – Northbrook Court Dental Associates (http://www.northbrookcourtdental.com) announced it now provides dental implants for patients with missing teeth. According to recent studies, approximately 69% of adults from the ages of 35 to 44 have lost at least one permanent tooth to periodontal disease, tooth decay, an unsuccessful root canal or an accident, and 26% of adults have lost all of their permanent teeth by age 74.
“Not only can the loss of a tooth change your appearance, it can cause problems with chewing,” says Dr. Michael Vold, D.D.S. and founder of Northbrook Court Dental Associates. “Dental implants are the best way to replace missing teeth and regain a beautiful smile.”
Dental implants can replace a single lost tooth or several missing teeth. The implants are made of titanium, an extremely strong metal, and shaped like a tooth root. They are fused into the jawbone and covered with a crown.
The implant procedure is a three step process that involves attaching the implant to the jawbone, placing an abutment on top of the implant and fitting the abutment with a crown. Once the implant is in place, it is taken care of just like natural teeth, with regular brushing and flossing.
Implants have become more popular than bridges because they do not have to be anchored to adjacent teeth. They are also sturdier and more comfortable than dentures, which can slip or cause embarrassing clicks.
“Dental implants are one of the best solutions for missing teeth,” says Dr. Vold. “They will correct any bite problems that resulted from the lost tooth, and make it much easier to eat.”

Nevada Credit Company Receives Tax Exemption on Airplane

Aero & Marine Tax Professionals Helps Right Away Auto Credit Company Obtain Sales Tax Exemption on Hawker Beech G36 Bonanza Airplane

SACRAMENTO, CA: Aero & Marine Tax Professionals, (http://aeromarinetaxpros.com/) a tax firm specializing in aircraft and marine vessel tax consulting, recently helped a Nevada credit company, Right Away Auto Credit, obtain sales tax exemption on the purchase of a 2008 Hawker Beech G36 Bonanza airplane. The company faced paying a California sales tax despite having no operations in California, but thanks to the efforts of Aero & Marine Tax Professionals a sales tax exemption was granted by the California Board of Equalization (BOE).

An executive from the company stated: “I got a letter from the California Board of Equalization stating that I owed them sales tax. We'd probably gotten two or three letters that we had thrown away, like I'm sure many people do. We're not California residents, never have been and don't do business in California. We thought it was ludicrous. We wrote a response or two back to them and after a year or so we realized that this wasn't going to go away. That's when we called AOPA and they referred us to Aero & Marine. On a scale of 1 to 10 working with Aero & Marine Tax Professionals was a 10+. My consultant was awesome. I loved working with her. She was great. She always remembered me. I highly recommend Aero & Marine. Very professional. I had purchased an aircraft out of California prior to this, so I think that was how I got on BOE's radar. Let me close with this: I really enjoyed working with Aero & Marine Tax Professionals. I would absolutely recommend them to others.”

Tom Alston, owner and founder of Aero & Marine Tax Professionals, stated: “It is not an uncommon case, to have a company based in another state charged with California sales tax when they purchase a plane. We’ve seen it time and again, even with companies such as this one who have no operations in California at all. Overall the transaction went very well, no problems from start to finish.”

Aero & Marine Tax Professionals shows purchasers how to avoid aircraft sales tax and vessel tax in California and to make certain the full value of their next aircraft, vehicle or vessel goes into their pocket--not the government's. They have successfully filed hundreds of tax returns with the California State Board of Equalization. Mr. Alston has also published many articles on sales and use tax. Aero & Marine Tax Professionals Assists Aviation Company to Obtain Tax Exemption on Plane

Aviation Company Obtains Tax Exemption on Purchase of Cessna 182T Airplane

SACRAMENTO, CA: Aero & Marine Tax Professionals, (http://aeromarinetaxpros.com/) a tax firm specializing in aircraft and marine vessel tax consulting, recently helped an aviation company, Lagusker Aviation, LLC, obtain sales tax exemption on the purchase of a new company plane. The California sales tax exemption was granted by the California Board of Equalization, (BOE) on the company’s newly purchased 2005 Cessna 182T.

An executive from the company stated: “We’re in a business looking for rental properties in areas outside of California. Mainly the growing areas of Las Vegas, Phoenix, El Monte & San Antonio. If we were using commercial, I would have to book far in advance and then figure out how to actually get from the big airports into the neighborhoods and have a lot of logistics problems. Having my own airplane gives me the flexibility and lets me fly on my own schedule. I can fly to very small airports right next to the properties that I wanted to check out. The logistics are so much simpler. I was referred to Aero & Marine Tax Professionals by one of their prior clients. It was so smooth. They told me exactly how to go about it. What paperwork I needed to keep, what receipts to keep, and what exactly I needed to do to make sure I crossed all my T's and dotted my I's for the auditor in Sacramento to go through with a fine tooth comb. Everything to make sure that I would not get a denial. I have already recommended them to another, and I will continue to do so.”

Tom Alston, founder and owner of Aero & Marine Tax Professionals, stated: “We were very happy with the outcome for this client. All of the proceedings went very smoothly and the transaction as well as exemption came off without a hitch. We look forward to working with them again if they decide to purchase another plane.”

What Causes Earthquakes

By Shawn Kyles

The earth is made up of several layers. The crust, which is the top layer, is up to 46 miles deep. It includes both land (continents) and oceans. Approximately 70% of the earth’s surface is covered by oceans. The average depth of the ocean is 2.5 miles. The crust contains iron, oxygen, silicon, magnesium, sulfur, nickel and small amounts of calcium, aluminum and several other elements.

The planet’s second layer is called the mantle. It is made of rocks with heavy concentrations of magnesium and iron. The earth’s crust, which is divided into plates, floats on the mantle. These plates (called tectonic plates) are always in motion. They are like a giant puzzle with moving pieces.
The earth’s third and fourth layers are the outer and inner core. The inner core is solid iron, and its outer layer is liquid.

Faults are the outer, rough edges of a plate. They can get stuck when a plate moves. When the edge of a plate unsticks, it results in an earthquake. The three types of faults are normal, reverse (thrust) and strike slip.

Reverse faults (thrust faults) cause the strongest earthquakes, above 8.0 or more. Strike-slip quakes can also be powerful – up to a magnitude 8. A normal fault generally produces quakes that are less than magnitude 7.

The hypocenter is where the quake starts below the surface. The epicenter is the location of the quake on the surface.

The “shake” you feel in an earthquake is the result of stored energy - the stress that has been building up over time. When the plates finally shift, the energy is released as seismic waves (waves of energy) that spread out like ripples in a pond. The waves make the ground shake.

Earthquakes usually occur in groups. They are related to each other location and time-wise. When a series of earthquakes occur in a similar location over a very short period of time, it is called an earthquake swarm.

In 2012, California’s Imperial Valley experienced a swarm of small to moderate quakes. There were dozens of quakes around magnitude 3.5 and a magnitude 5.3 quake. The largest quake was a magnitude 5.5. Although there were no injuries, windows were shattered and trailers were knocked off their foundation. Residential and government buildings suffered structural damage, requiring foundation repair, and various sidewalks and roads needed repairs.

Earthquakes occur frequently in California, with building damages totaling nearly $3 billion dollars per year. The Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana metropolitan area currently has the highest estimated annualized building loss and the highest annualized percent building loss in the state, followed by San Francisco-Oakland-Freemont, Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario and San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara.

California homeowners can minimize the possibility of quake damage with regular building inspections by a foundation repair expert. Taking care of foundation cracks and similar types of problems will help maintain the home’s structural integrity and make it less likely to collapse during a quake. There are also many ways to strengthen a home so it can withstand quakes, like foundation bolting and earthquake retrofitting. For California homeowners, earthquake preparation is a must.

Building Cleaning Services Warns Against Allowing Mold Growth

Excessive Moisture in Buildings Cited As Dangerous Situation in Which Black Mold Can Grow

LOS ANGELES, CA: Building Cleaning Services, (http://buildingcleaningservices.net/), a Los Angeles mold removal and construction cleaning business, is warning homeowners that many common moisture problems can turn into breeding grounds for mold. Homeowners should beware of allowing these to go unnoticed. Left untreated it can lead to serious problems with black mold—often the source of health problems. Mold infestation, the company stated, must be handled at once with the proper removal procedures.

Molds can be found indoors and out, with more than 1,000 known species in the US alone. Letting mold grow indoors is the problem, leading to health hazards when it goes unchecked. Mold can also affect the structural framework of older buildings, so extra care has to be taken to prevent mold infestation in aged buildings with wooden frameworks. Molds universally require no sunlight to grow; landing on a damp spot they can then release spores and multiply. They ingest whatever organic substance they land on to propagate, even the common dust and dirt in any building.

When a mold infestation has been found, the company stressed that it must be remedied immediately. An effective cleaning company with mold removal experience should be called in to address the situation.

Building Cleaning Services has over 15 years experience in Los Angeles mold removal, and its many happy customers can attest to the fact the company’s staff know fast and effective methods of mold removal. As one man from Hayward, CA said: “These gentlemen helped me remediate mold at my house, and then dry out a huge water leak before mold could form at my wife's family's house--in the span of about a month. Their service was responsive, fast, professional, and courteous. They answered any question that I had, and the pricing was transparent and understandable. I really couldn't have been happier. They made the best out of two dicey situations.”

Building Safety Expert Speaks On House Leveling

Unstable Foundations Can Result From Lack Of Attention To According To Safety Expert

LOS ANGELES, CA: Julian Construction, Inc., (http://julianconstruction.com/), a construction and foundation repair company in Southern California, recently made a statement to raise homeowner awareness on house or floor leveling. Building Safety Expert Shawn Kyles spoke on behalf of the company on the subject of when and how house leveling should be used to repair a home’s structural integrity.

Building Safety Inspections Expert, Mr. Shawn Kyles, stated that house leveling can correct uneven floors in a home. Uneven floors remaining present in a home cause foundation damage and other damage to the structure of a home. Applying the techniques in house leveling, a contractor can correct these problems before they get to more serious stages of development. The problem is common, according to Mr. Kyles, but fortunately most floors can be leveled and returned to their original position with no danger of long-term structural damage requiring foundation repairs if the problem is handled quickly. More serious circumstances may require foundation replacement.

Julina De La Torre, founder and owner of Julian Construction, stated: “While other aspects of foundation retrofitting and repair are a matter of scientific approach, house leveling is an art. Each job is unique in the difficulties presented, so the solution must equally fit the structure. This work can be completed in a structurally sound manner, making yours a safer home.”

Julian Construction owns its own company and is built on a “no middlemen” model – no salesmen, no subcontractors. When you work with Julian Construction you get the principals of the company and workers of Julian Construction under your home. The result is the highest quality work at affordable prices.
